Radio Frequency Identification

Date:01/11/2002

Radio Frequency Identification or RFID to give them their short name are set to replace the basic barcode that we are using today.

RFID's are small memory chips that become part of a products packaging. The chips can hold more information than can be read from a barcode making them a great deal more useful. The chips can be used in shops to hold price information, dates of production and even details of everywhere the product has been before it reached the shop. The possibilities are endless. This product is just beginning to come into use and is predicted to take over the barcode within ten years. This is just another example of how CFL's extensive range of contacts ensures that we are right up-to-date with technological advances.
